Gross Picture

So the gross picture below is a chunk of moldy cat food. It was in a bucket that I thought was watertight and was not it turns out, so after the rain we opened it up and there was that nasty thing on top. I received a lot of great guesses. I wondered what I would have guessed if I didn't already know.

Raccoons

So I posted our raccoon video on Facebook, but I forgot to blog about them here. A couple weeks ago our raccoon friends came to visit. They show up every once in a while to eat the cat food. For some reason I find them a lot cuter and more entertaining than the possums who are here nearly every night. We've had up to 5 raccoons at a time and they like to frolic in the backyard. This time it was a mama and her two almost grown babies. It was interesting to see her be protective. She even walked right up to us when we had the door open watching them which was scary cause their claws are really sharp! So we closed the door and watched them that way. Jeremy and I enjoyed them.

Grasshoppers

Last night we ate with our neighbors. They made tacos and I made peach cobbler. Their friend is from Oaxaca Mexico and her dad sent her this tasty treat, grasshoppers cooked in lemon and salt. Yum yum, not!!! Okay I was so disturbed. Then I was filling my taco shells and there was a grasshopper leg that had broken off and was sticking out of my food. AAAAAAAAAH!!! I just couldn't wrap my head around it and David and my neighbors were laughing and teasing me. They said that's what you get for living next to a Mexican. It was so fun.

Pink Eye

So 2 weeks ago Kelsey's left eye started getting runny and then goopy, so I called the nurse and she said to bring her in so the doctor could make sure what is was. He said it was pink eye, or conjunctivitis for all you medical professional terminologists out there. He gave me the drops for her eyes and I did the whole 7 day round and she seemed like she was all better. Well yesterday she started in with the runnies and goopies again in that eye. I was so frustrated because it's hard to keep her little hands out of her eyes and clean. She rubs her eyes and then touches everything and I try to keep her isolated on her blanket and with her toys and wash my hands a lot, but it's hard. She's little and I just want to hold her and love her and not worry about germs and Jeremy wants to play with her and can't. Plus this is the social event time of the year and I want to get the kids dressed and go go go to all the fun stuff. I know, it could be lots worse, she could have cancer or something terrible and I do count my blessings, but I'm just frustrated it came back. She hates the drops in her eyes and she hates me cleaning her eyes and everything. Poor little thing. On another note, I was waiting for her prescription and I overheard this man talking about leaving in April to travel around the world with this wife and their two kids, ages 2 and 3. They're going to just fly from one place to another and be gone for a few months. The other man said, oh yeah, his friend did that, but he took his family around the world on their boat. Who has that kind of money? Seriously, can you say recession? Who can afford to just up and leave their lives for that long and vacation in style? I was bemoaning the fact that I had to fork over 50 bucks during Christmas time in the last couple of weeks to take care of Kelsey's eyes and these people are all over the world. Amazing. I am so blessed, I know, but it's just amazing how much money some people have.

So the fiction voters came out on top and apparently global warming is a myth, at least in my little corner of the blogging world. I personally don't believe it's a big problem; I just think Mother Earth goes in cycles, kind of like a woman and sometimes she has hot flashes. LOL

Exersaucer

After Jeremy left babyhood behind him, I only kept a few things. Baby stuff takes up so much room and it always seems like there's someone to share what you need. Heaven knows I'm always sharing whatever we don't need anymore. It just makes sense. Well, we bought this exersaucer when Jeremy was little because I just loved it! They were kind of a new thing at the time I think, and I thought this one was so fun with all the sea creatures on it since I was doing his room in a beach theme. He spent many happy times in that saucer and it has been passed around to other babies since then. Well now my tiny girl is big enough and Daddy brought it down from the rafters in the garage. She loves it and Jeremy was excited for her to go in it this morning. Here's pictures of both of them in it. Jeremy Kelsey

Let There Be Light

So the 2 lightbulbs in our fridge burnt out years ago, literally. We just never got around to replacing them. We've been to the store dozens of times, maybe even hundreds, but we never got them. The only time it's been a problem is when I'm hungry in the middle of the night and can't see what's in the fridge. Well, David went to Lowe's on Saturday and I said to him, while you're there get a light bulb for the refrigerator. They'd been burnt out for so long that I forgot there were supposed to be two bulbs. So he replaced the bulbs and Jeremy opened the door a while later and asked why we had turned the light on. Poor kid, he never knew there was supposed to be light in a fridge. Ha ha.

Weekend Happenings

This weekend was a busy one. Friday morning I took the kids to the neighbor's house to play with their kids so our friends could go to the airport and pick up an aunt flying in from Mexico. She is a nun and only speaks spanish. I of course speak mostly tacos and burritos so I just said hello and listened to her. I was happy she was there because her family was so excited she was coming. She turned to me and stroked my cheek and said something in spanish. My friend told me that her aunt said I had a face like the Virgin Mary. I was amused and honored all at the same time because to a Catholic nun I'm sure that's a very nice thing to say to someone. I think Mary must have had a kind face, so I was surprised but glad and asked her how long she could stay. It's nice to have people around who say nice things to me. Saturday morning we had the Jenkins grandchildren Christmas picture. It is quite an adventure getting all those kids to look at the camera and smile at the same time and actually not run away. Well, the photographer was not so great and that didn't happen, so we ended up getting separate shots of the boys and girls. After the photo studio, David took the kids home and I helped my MIL do some Christmas shopping and we ate Sinful Cinnamon pretzels from Wetzel's Pretzels. They were so good! I recommend them. Then I picked up Kelsey from home and went to help put together our gifts for the Young Women while David and Jeremy went to Walmart to do some shopping. I was in charge of getting little stands for the gifts. I went to the Dollar Tree and they were so tangled that I had to just buy them all in a lump and take them home. What a mess! Saturday night our sweet neighbors fed us the most delicious pizza. It was from a place in Santa Ana called First Class Pizza. Yum yum! I love it when people feed me! It's like the best thing you could ever do for me! On Sunday morning David went early to choir practice. I got a peach cobbler ready for Young Women's and brought the ice cream I'd sent David out at 10pm for the night before. When I got to church I found out we were supposed to join the Relief Society for goodies. So I didn't do the cobbler and then I forgot it and the ice cream at the church when we left. After church we went over to David's parents to take the kids picture again. I had brainstormed for an hour that morning on how we were going to do it so the kids wouldn't run away and would be snuggled all close together. They're still children, but it came out better than the studio. After dinner the men watched the children downstairs and the women wrapped all the presents from Grandma and Grandpa on the dining room table. Then David had the kids line up and do a present relay to the Christmas tree. On our way home we went to the church to get the forgotten dessert. I was so glad to go home after that and put on our pajamas. I put the kids in bed with me and snuggled them and myself to sleep in no time. Today the adventure starts again! Don't you just love Christmas?

Goal Weight

This week I hit my goal weight! Woo Hoo! I'm so excited. I know a big part of it is breastfeeding. After I had Jeremy I lost weight really fast too, but after I stopped nursing him I gained 25 pounds! It was not good. I weighed almost as much as I had when I was 9 months pregnant with Jeremy. So this time I really want to work on maintaining this weight loss. It's expensive to change sizes because your clothes don't fit, plus it just feels yucky to put on weight. I'm watching what I eat and I actually have started a little exercise program that Jeremy and I do together. It's manageable so I can actually stick with it and hopefully become more fit cause I'm such a wimp! I can't run anywhere, and I hate lifting my arm to wave at people cause it just wobbles back and forth underneath. Not cute. So here's to a healthier me!

Mall Santa

Today we went with our neighbors for the traditional Santa picture at the mall. So we got there and he had just left for lunch, or feeding the reindeer for the next hour as Santa's helpers told us. So we went and got some Wendy's and did some Christmas shopping and returning. When we came back, my neighbor went to the potty and by the time she came back Santa had left again to "feed his reindeer" for an hour and 15 minutes this time. I was getting a little tired of this but what could we do? So we let the kids play in the new play area at the mall, which they loved and walked around some more. When we came back to see Santa, the line was so long. It was ridiculous. But we waited, and finally it was our turn. After they took the picture the helper girl asked me which picture package I wanted to purchase. They were ridiculously expensive, so I said I wasn't going to get any. She then informed me that if I had taken pictures with my camera then I had to purchase some pictures. I told her I wasn't informed about that. She pointed to the sign and said the policy was on it. I told her I hadn't seen the sign. She told me that if I had waited in line I had to have seen it, it was impossible to miss it. I told her I was sorry but I had not seen the sign. She said fine in her huffy little way and turned her back on me. Hello! I didn't see the sign! I understand their policy, but I didn't know and I wasn't about to erase the pictures from my camera or fork over a bunch of money either. Every day is not only an adventure but a new drama.

Adventures in Cookies

Yesterday we went to my neighbor's house to make cookies. Her sister was here and they were making gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies, and oreo balls, yum yum! I brought Jeremy's favorite chocolate cookies with some peanut butter chips mixed in to add to the cookie bundles. The kids had fun and the babies were so good and happy. By the time the daddies came home, we were all cookied out and had consumed way too much sugar, but it was fun! The kids paid very close attention to the rolling tutorial. The humble beginnings of the gingerbread man. Jeremy was very good at rolling dough. Perhaps he'll be a baker and make me fat and happy in my old age. Look mom, I made bells! It was so sweet to see my friend and her daughter working together. I loved making cookies with Jeremy, but I think it will be even more fun when I get to share the experience with Kelsey. It's a girl thing.Little Helper The mamas did the icing. The kids put on the finishing touches. They were so cute working together. Voila! Didn't they turn out cute!

Upside Down

David always goes to check on Jeremy before we go to bed at night. This is what he found tonight. How does he sleep like that?

Brother and Sister

Okay, so you all know that picture of Jeremy and Kelsey under the Christmas tree didn't just happen. I put Kelsey under the tree after she fell asleep to take her picture like I did with Jeremy at his first Christmas. When Jeremy saw her, he crawled under the tree, laid down, put his arm around her, and pretended to sleep. He's so sweet with her and I'm so glad he loves her. She loves to watch him and lights up when she sees him too. I'm sure they'll have their rough moments, but as long as they love each other through it and are friends when they're grown, I'll be happy.

Knotts Berry Farm

Last week we got to go to Knotts Berry Farm courtesy of their Fire and Law Enforcement promotion. Grandpa Jenkins is a fireman and so he got himself and one of us in for free and we only had to buy 2 tickets at $15.00 apiece. That was cheap compared to the regular prices so we were excited to go. Jeremy loves Knotts Camp Snoopy almost better than Disneyland. Thanks Grandpa!

Grandpa!
Jeremy was so excited to go on this ride before we got there, but he went on it once and didn't want to go on it anymore.
Train Ride
Kelsey was a good girl hanging out in her stroller.
This ride is so much fun.
Huff and Puff
Kelsey and I just hung out while Daddy and Jeremy rode the crazy Camp Snoopy rides. It was good individual time with the kids.
Ferris Wheel
Little Poser
Phillip face on the bus
Gr8 Skate
Daddy snuck over and went on a roller coaster every now and then. The park was not busy at all, so he'd only be gone for about 5 minutes at a time. Awesome! This is him going on his favorite roller coaster XCELERATOR. It is crazy. Carousel
Happy Boy
Kelsey's first carousel ride; I think she liked it.
Wheeeeeeeee!
Happy Carousel Riders

Jeremy's favorite ride, the little roller coaster, as he calls it. He cried to leave this one at the end of the day.
Jeremy wanted his picture taken with the talking trash can honey bear.
Jeremy was really happy to win this duck.
Little Aviator
This Santa picture was an adventure as you can tell from Kelsey's crooked bow. When Santa came out on the parade route, he pointed down at Jeremy and said, "I remember talking to you." That's my boy, he always makes an impression. LOL I saw one of my Young Women in the Christmas parade.
Pretty lights Jeremy put ketchup on his biscuit and despite this face, he ate it and put ketchup on another.
Jeremy ate jello. This may not seem like a big deal, but he would never eat it before. David theorized that maybe he ate it because it was just plain jello without all the yummy stuff Grandma puts in it. Ice cream is always a good finishing touch to any day.
