Duck-a-Thon

Ok, so my sister said my San Francisco pictures were a little random, but what can I say? San Francisco is a pretty random place, which is what makes it so fun to visit! And speaking of random, we went to the most random event this past weekend with our friends, the Meyers. So apparently in Huntington Beach, they have an annual Duck-a-Thon. Although we don't live in Huntington Beach, we live next to it, and I've never heard of it. Neither had my friend, who is a Huntington Beach native. But when our friends invited us to go, it sounded like a fun way to spend the day, since Daddy had abandoned us for his own exciting trip to Kansas, (more on that in another post.) So basically what happens is you go buy a rubber duck, put your name on it, and then it goes in a bulldozer to be dumped off the pier, into the ocean to race all the other rubber duckies to shore. And they've been doing this for 18 years! That's right, this was the 18th annual Duck-a-Thon. Amazing. So along with tossing ducks in the water, they also have lots of booths with vendors, kind of like a mini marketplace/swapmeet kind of deal, and some food and activities for the kids. When we got there, we found out the ducks were $10 a piece! It is a fundraiser after all, for who knows what, but no thank you.
We kept wandering and found the bounce house. The kids were all over that so we played there a while and met up with our friends.
We had a picnic lunch on the grass by the beach, walked the pier, and then settled down on the beach to wait for the ducks to come tumbling down.
Jeremy got buried in the sand.
READY!
DUMP!
And there you have it, the Duck-a-thon. Random, but pretty fun! Thanks for the invite Meyers, and just maybe we'll be back again next year.
