OC Fair

So every year the OC Fair rolls into town around this time and it's usually blazing hot there. It's a lot of blacktop, a lot of people, and just a lot of stuff going on. Daddy and Jeremy love it so I go with the family and then resolve to never go again. Well this year, it's been unseasonably cool around these parts and we got $1 tickets so I decided to join the family and go to the fair! We chose a Friday afternoon and invited the grandparents to come along. Friday afternoons mean $1 food tasting and $1 rides. Next year I need way more time to taste all the $1 wonders in the food section. Oh so yummy! I ended up trying...
Cinnamon Roll (my favorite!)
Chili Cheese Fries
Cheesecake drizzled with Chocolate Sauce
And other various fried things,
Onion Rings, Fried Zucchini, French Fries, Waffle Fries.
Meanwhile, Daddy and Jeremy were in line for the Crazy Coaster!
Jeremy liked it!
He got to play lots of games, which he found to be more challenging than he wanted. I was glad we weren't going home with 50 gigantic stuffed animals however. ;)
Jeremy and Daddy went on this ride that made my mama heart a little nervous!
Then we all went on a superman-type flying ride. It was fun!
And what was Kelsey doing all this time?
Twirling on stools...
Kissing her stuffed chicken Grandpa won her...
and trying to escape out of her stroller.
Grandpa and Jeremy decided it was time for ice cream!
Check out that sassypants with her tongue out!
Good thing she's so dang cute!
We went to look at exhibits and found this cute tea table set up for the kids to enjoy. They loved it!
I went to sign up for the pie-eating contest, and the emcee thought I was so fun that he picked me to be a contestant!
I was so excited!!!!
I got to wear a garbage bag, oh the wonder of it all!
Ready, set, GO!!!
The challenge was to eat 1/2 of a Knott's Berry Farm boysenberry pie in 2 minutes.
I didn't win, but I had the most fun and it sure was yummy!!!
We walked around some more, checked out Weird Al, and petted some animals.
Kelsey was so freaked out by the animals last year. She did much better this year.
Even when they tried to eat her dress. LOL
Grandpa was quite popular with all the animals as well.
Jeremy loved feeding them.
He was up close and personal.
And just as snuggly as he is with everyone.
We all started getting hungry for something besides fair food so we headed to the Spaghetti Factory in Newport Beach. There was a little wait so Jeremy entertained himself with the camera.
Look at that meatball! Everything was so delicious!!!
We had such a fun time at the fair with Grandma and Grandpa!
I just might go again! ;)

I can't imagine WHERE she gets that sassiness. I was so excited to see the pie eating pictures that I ran right over when you called, scrolled to those, laughed, and then went back to canning until now. I think this was one of your funnest adventures yet!

Oh my, how I enjoyed this post!! The county fair is all about the food for us too. The pie eating picture is classic! Something the kids will remember forever, I'm sure. ;)

Great post - it brings back many happy memories of the OC fair. I loved going there as a child.

Loved hearing you went to the Spaghetti Factory too! It was one of my family's favorite restaurants growing up. I haven't been there in almost 10 years and I hope it's still the same.

(Here by way of Sweet Shot Tuesday)
