Easter Weekend

This weekend was full of sunshiny family fun. On Saturday and Sunday we got to listen to the prophets and apostles speak in General Conference. So many great messages about strengthening our families. In between sessions we fit in our Easter festivities.

Saturday morning the kids woke up to Easter baskets filled with bubbles, books and chocolate bunnies.

This little girl amazes me. How did she know there was chocolate inside? She can sniff it out a mile away. LOL

The books were from this great new store in our mall where you can buy used books for $1!!! I could have spent all day in there! Luckily David was with me and pulled me away before I could go too crazy. ;)

On Sunday afternoon we went to my sister's house.

The kids had another Easter egg hunt with their cousins. Kelsey had lots of helpers.

Jeremy found so many I had to have him stop and let the other kids have a chance.

The whole weekend was beautiful!

We all had fun being outside. We were glad to be together when the earthquake hit. It was a fun adventure as it rolled across the land.

My sister's mom got all the ladies Eater Lily corsages.

They were so beautiful and I felt so loved and special wearing it.

Kelsey found the eggs and made a mess getting into them and eating the yummy treats inside. But she was happy!

We had a really yummy dinner, and I made homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting on top. My BIL really wanted orange frosting carrots so I piped some on top for him.

Busy Week

We were so busy last week! It was actually pretty fun, though I thoroughly enjoyed chilling today in my pajamas and just sticking to the normal, school, housework, and general Kelsey craziness. So Monday we took Kelsey to the doctor since she was all broken out in hives for two days straight! She had her blood drawn, which was so sad for me, but she was a champ and didn't even cry! That's my big girl! It came back negative for any allergies, so we'll see what happens. After that we went across the street to Walmart and got what we needed to plant our garden! That night we went to Mimi's for my free birthday dinner.

So yummy! Tuesday we drove our friends to LAX to catch a plane to Japan!!! I'm so excited for their adventure and it was fun to be a small part of it. So since we were already in the general LA area, I took the kids up to the temple for a little photo shoot. I love love love the LA temple, and it was fun to take them there.After the temple we drove home via the Long Beach Towne Center and grabbed some lunch at Chick-Fil-A and our free ice cream cones at Ben & Jerry's! Oh so good. They have a little water play area there that was so fun!Tuesday was also the last day our Disneyland annual passes were good so when Daddy got home we hit the resort for a final hurrah. The kids got to choose one special treat. After much deliberation, Jeremy chose cotton candy. Kelsey got the balloon she's always wanted. I got to see the fireworks, my favorite! And Daddy got to enjoy an evening with us. Seriously, that's all he wanted. What a guy. Wednesday we all slept in after that crazy Tuesday and barely woke up in time to go to Homeschool Picture Day in the park. The kids smiled pretty and then had fun playing. That night we tagged along with Daddy to his church youth activity and then went with him to fix Grandma and Grandpa's computer and TV. Thursday we finally got around to planting the garden.It was a gorgeous day and we thoroughly enjoyed being outside! That night we headed on over to Hometown Buffet for another free birthday dinner! Friday night we rushed to the library before it closed to get the books Jeremy has been wanting, books on China and volcanoes. After the library we went to Tony Romas for my last free birthday dinner. I got the biggest best steak diner on the menu! It was so mouthwateringly delicious!!! I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! Then we went to Home Depot to get painting supplies for our living room. I picked Early Morning Sunrise, a light shade of yellow. I hope it turns out well!

Saturday morning we took Grandma with us to the Orange County Marketplace. We had so much fun looking at all the stuff and finding the great deals. Jeremy and Daddy got matching hats, I got shampoo, and Kelsey got curlers. Exciting stuff right?! Grandma bought me this cute dress that I just love! Jeremy and Daddy got churros, the biggest and best ones you'll ever find! After that we went to Yogurtland and then had fun running and playing in the water together in the backyard.

It was the perfect end to a great week!

My Birthday Cupcakes

Ok, so one of my very favorite things are my friend Cory's cupcakes! They are fantastically, delectably delicious!!! You can check out her blog here. She has different flavor combos, but my favorite are the chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow frosting. Oh my goodness, they are so so good. If there are none of these cupcakes in heaven, then I don't want to go. They are really that wonderful. So my completely awesome sister Cherish, (who also better be in heaven with me and my cupcakes,) had the brilliant idea to order some from Cory for my birthday. Seriously, the best birthday present EVER!!! I can't tell you how excited I was to wake up from my birthday nap, thanks honey, and find a dozen of these beauties on my kitchen counter. I squealed. Cherish even had Cory put our special sister code on hearts.

Daylight Savings Time

Ok, let me just say that for the record I know that HATE is a strong word. I try not to use it too often, and never with people.

That being said,

I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!!!

This is a big change for me. I used to adore daylight savings time. I have always been terrified of the dark and welcomed any chance to have longer periods of light. Then I had Kelsey. Bless her heart, she is not so good with change. This time change has messed her up royally. Being her mother, I am messed up royally as well! She has not adapted this week. She sleeps in late, and then her nap is late, and then she's up until 11:00 at night!! Oh my goodness. Those of you who know my sassy little girl also know that she can't be convinced to do anything she doesn't want to. She won't eat or sleep or smile or do anything unless she's in the mood. I can't just make her change her sleep habits. She woke up one day early this week and I thought hooray! She's adapting. This is the beginning of sleeping bliss. Sadly, it was not meant to be. That night she was up til 11:00 again. Who knows how long it will take her to change. Yes, I HATE daylight savings time.

Sickness & Spring

The sickness is never-ending. I shouldn't complain, we just have the wicked cold/flu bug that everyone is so kindly passing around. I decided to have a good attitude about it and just let things lie and enjoy a few days of R&R while our bodies mended. Well, it's been a week, and I'm ready to be mended. David got sick yesterday. Up til now, he had been the healthy one, the caretaker of all us sickies in the house. I thought oh no, he's going down too! But, he took Nyquil last night, crashed on the couch for 8 hours and woke up well. What in the world?!?!?! I shouldn't be surprised. I've never seen David be sick for more than a day or two. In fact, I rarely see him get sick at all. It's an amazing and blessed thing since the rest of us make up for him. Poor Jeremy has had a fever earlier in the week, he threw up once, has a cough, and a runny nose, chapped lips and nose. I had the body aches, cough, and this nose that won't stop. It took me 4 tissues just now to empty all the snot out of my nose. Gross huh? And when I blow my nose, it sounds like someone is squeezing a squeaky toy inside my ear.
I wish I knew what made this winter so rough on everyone. Everywhere I hear about people being sick repeatedly this winter. It stinks. The clocks change on Sunday, my birthday, so let's hope it brings sunshine, warmth, and relief from the icky sicky germs! Here's to Spring!
