General Conference

It's funny because one of the reasons we got the Dish was so we could watch General Conference at home, and we never watch it at home anyway. I record it on the DVR though so we can watch it again over the next 6 months. On Saturday we watched with Jon at his house and I made cinnamon rolls. On Sunday we were all invited to go to Jon's friends' house to watch Conference. We were in charge of breakfast. I made the Criss Cross Apple Muffins, by request. David made German Oven Pancakes, also by request, and we brought bacon and orange juice too. It was super yummy. If you look closely you can see Jon's super hot pink butterfly apron. Jeremy had fun playing with this cutie pie little girl. She reminds me of Mara Wilson, the little girl in Mrs. Doubtfire. Anyway, she loved holding the baby, and the men were cute with Kelsey too.We ended up having to go home earlier than we would have liked because we ran out of diapers due to Kelsey's exploding bum! Don't you just love the exploding poop phase.

Last Week

Monday - Gymnastics Class

Jeremy did much better this class, getting on the big scary trampoline and climbing the rope. Good job, Superstar! He was so cute in his group of girls. He has always gotten along well with girls. Pretty in Pink Our Family at the Angels Rally Brooke and Jon came too since it was our Family Home Evening activity. Jon's sister and her cute girls were visiting from Arizona and came too with his mom. They all loved Kelsey. I always love the fireworks! Tuesday - My six week check-up with my doctor who helped deliver Kelsey. At our homeschool park group these sweet little girls wanted to hold Kelsey the whole time. Jeremy was excited the red wagon was there; his favorite part of the park day. I pulled them all around and the moms were amazed at how easygoing Kelsey was to let the little girls hold her and ride around in the wagon. They were all so cute. That afternoon we went to the Little Gym with our neighbors. Our neighbor baby loved on Kelsey and even gave her a kiss, so cute! Jeremy and his friend had fun in the class and Jeremy loved it so much he threw a royal fit when we left and screamed at me the whole way home. Poor guy, it was a very long, fun, tiring day. He's usually so happy-go-lucky that I knew he was pooped. I ignored him until he calmed down and then told him how sad it was and if he acted like that we wouldn't go back. It's a lot more money than our homeschool gymnastics class unfortunately, so we'll just go on guest days. Thursday we went to Downtown Disney with Brooke and Jon and their family before they headed back to Arizona. The kids all had a ball dancing to the musical performers and looking in the shops. It made me miss our Disney passes. We haven't been to Disneyland in so long.My Mickey and Minnie The drooliest doll in the shop

3 months

Here's our Kelsey at 3 months. A few things about her: She has gained almost 4 pounds and almost 5 inches since she was born. She usually sleeps through the night. She thinks her fingers are very tasty! She loves her pacifier which is great because my booby is not her pacifier. She must be swaddled to stay asleep. She loves her mama the best, which is so sweet but a little unexpected this young. People often stop me and say they thought I was carrying around a doll and were surprised she was a real baby. She's a happy girl as long as she's fed and has slept. We love her!

Prop. 8

Okay, so for those of my readers who are in California, you know all about Prop. 8. For those of you who are out of state, out of the country, or out of your minds like me, Prop. 8 is on the ballot to reestablish the legal definition of marriage as a union between only a man and a woman. So the leaders of our church have asked us to donate financially and of our time to help this proposition pass. We did this in 2000 with Prop. 22, but it was sadly overturned not too long ago by some liberal judges. Anyway, I didn't really understand what all the fuss was. Because of my religious beliefs I agree that same-sex marriage is not part of God's plan and should not be allowed. As we've gotten more involved, however, I've learned a few things. Apparently, adoption agencies would be forced to adopt children out to same-sex couples, or have to close their doors, as happened in Massachusetts. Same-sex history and propaganda would be taught in our schools. Clergymen would be forced to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies, whether it was against their beliefs or not. In short, people would be forced to turn their back on their own beliefs and values in order to support someone else's lifestyle choices. The problem there, if not obvious, is our freedom to choose is taken away. We do not force our beliefs on anyone, and they should not be able to force them on us. I know the issue can be confusing, and it seems logical to live and let live, but the negative ramifications will be huge and probably even beyond anything we can imagine. Please vote yes on Prop 8.

Last week's adventures

Maybe if I just blogged really quick without pictures I could blog more often, but since I love to put pictures in, it ends up being when I have enough time to put them all in.

Monday Jeremy started a homeschool gymnastics class at this really cool facility called Newhope Gymnastics. It was an Olympics training facility years ago. He was there for a birthday party a few months ago and loved it, so I was excited for him to take a class there!Monday was Brooke's birthday and I made her a birthday dinner of her favorite chicken and criss cross apple muffins. Tuesday was her actual party and we decorated with balloons and I made an ice cream cake that she requested. I was nervous about it because I'd never made one, but it turned out yummy. I just love this picture and she's actually awake so I had to throw it in. Wednesday we went to our LDS Homeschool Park group. It was great because one mom was getting rid of a bunch of stuff her kids weren't using anymore so we scored on some free school supplies. Yeah! We were excited to go to this park because it had an island with a ship and colonial houses and everything but it was closed for maintenance, so I can't wait to go back and explore it. Thursday I was so excited to have a day to just be at home and do laundry and stuff. I never thought I'd say that, my life used to be so tame and boring! Friday Jon went on a campout with the scouts, so Kelsey and I went to stay with Brooke. We had fun eating pizza, going to Target in our pajamas, and watching a movie. Good Times. We got nail polish to paint my toes. The shoes I wanted but put back when I found out they were full price. Aren't they cute?! Kelsey sleeping in the cart Saturday morning we went to the Dog Beach. Brooke feeding Baldo licorice to make him happy.Kelsey, asleep again in her carrier David has always mowed the lawns and he hates it. I love to mow and still he always does it. It took us eight years of our lawns to figure out how silly that is. So when I got home on Saturday I mowed both lawns. It was hot and sweaty and I was a drama queen for the camera.Here's the kids watching me. I'm so entertaining apparently. My cute kids on Sunday morning playing on Kelsey's play mat while I ironed clothes for church. David on baby patrol while we made dinner at the Jenkins. My cute niece and I while she made ouch ponytails in my hair. Doesn't my hair look amazing? :) I sacrificed much hair for this gorgeous look.Great-Grandpa keeping Kelsey warm in his blanket. He always thinks she's cold like him. So sweet.

Wii Fit

David's parents just got the Wii Fit, so last night we set up our profiles. The good news is that I've lost all my baby weight plus some. The bad news is that it measured my age at 46! Okay, I'm apparently very out of shape. I'm going to have to work on that. David weighed too much but was measured at age 27! That's the funny thing about us. I'm a healthy weight but out of shape and he's overweight and in better physical shape. It's always been that way with us. I'm going to work on that. It's one of my new goals, to tone up my body. It's pathetic for me to get sore over the smallest physical exercise.

Mr. Fix-it

This weekend was work around the house weekend. So in addition to the 33 Cypress tree all in a row around our property, we had a Pepper tree at the very front of our property. Everyone had them at one point. They're on city property so I assume they planted them when the track was built 50 years ago. Anyway, the roots were causing problems in our plumbing so we had the city take their tree out a few years ago. Well they only cut it down and didn't take out the roots, which were the problem! Anyway, when we got back from our trip, the plumbing backed up again in the driveway overflow. Yuck. In the past it's cost us a few hundred dollars for the plumber to clean it out. This time Daddy rented the machine and cleaned it out for $40.00! Yay Daddy! The ironic thing is that the city finally came while we were gone and ground out the roots to that pepper tree. It only took them 5 years! Aaargh! So hopefully this is the last time we'll have to deal with that. Then on Saturday, we went and helped Jon put in a new front window. It was much bigger than his old one so he had to make the hole bigger. It made a big mess, but looked beautiful when it was all done. I helped by mowing the backyard, making pizza and shop vaccing. I love the shop vac! I want one. It's so awesome! I went crazy with it, vaccuming under the stove and under the furniture and everywhere! Jeremy played on the computer in the office with the doors closed since he hates loud noise. Kelsey slept through it all, she's so good.
