Getting Ready

So my sister comes today, she's flying right now with the 4 kids and I'm so excited to have her come. It was hard to get ready with not feeling good, so I tried to prioritize what I really wanted done. So I decided I wanted to cook a lot so we could just visit so I made meatloaf and beef stroganoff and spaghetti last night. They all have this amazing metabolism and eat and eat so I always try to have the house stocked up with food. My amazing MIL traded her car with me this morning on her way to work which was awesome because it saved me so much trouble! Now there's room for everyone when I go to the airport and I don't have to find someone to watch Superstar in his sniffly coughy condition and go back and forth trading cars and getting Superstar from whoever was willing to brave his germs. Sunday my sister gave us some sweet onesies she bought on clearance at Target. Yay! Thanks Sis! And last night Luke dropped by to share key limes someone had given him! They're so tiny and cute! Yummy! I want to make key lime pie and limeade! I'm the luckiest girl in the whole world!

Spell That!

So Superstar is on this spelling kick. He's always liked to spell his own name and a couple of other words, but now he wants to spell all sorts of things. He has his little eraseable board and he writes the the words and then he makes us write them and then he cheers for us. It's so cute! I feel like he finally got something from me since I was the spelling bee champion growing up and I love to spell. (Now you'll all be examining my posts for incorrect spelling!) Anyway, Superstar woke up this morning and he was spelling all our names, Daddy, Mama, his and his baby sister's names. Then he told me that our baby was a special baby and she was growing bigger and bigger and was sleeping in her bed right now in my belly. Isn't that sweet!? I love that he's getting a little involved so he won't be so shocked when the baby actually comes to take up time and space in our house.
And next week Daddy is going on a business trip to San Francisco and then to a niece's baby blessing in Vegas so he'll be gone for 7 whole days! I was wondering what to do with myself, but now my sister is coming to stay with me for a few days with her bunch o' munchkins. That'll definitely keep me entertained! Thanks to my sister for coming, and thanks to her sweet hubby for sharing his wife with me!

Buttons & Bows

Superstar is the most perfect angel boy ever. He's so sweet to me and lets me rest and just is so loving and undemanding. I love you baby! Here he is helping me button up the back of my dress, what a sweetie!

On Monday I went to 2 Children's Orchard locations and got some great deals on little stuff for our baby. I banked, they had so many great deals. I just wanted to get her lots of little onesies since she'll be born right in the heat of things in July. When Superstar was born, I overheated him and it was only January so I don't want to do that again! Anyway, I got her first bows, I couldn't resist!

It's a girl!!!

Okay, so those of you who know me know that I've always wanted a girl. Why? Because I tie the perfect bow! Okay and also I just love all that girly stuff. Painting little nails, bows, doing hair, fluffy dresses, what's not to love? So we went to this sonogram place and took an early peek and they said it was a girl and I of course was so excited and Daddy too. We took Superstar and Grandma Jenkins with us and then we went shopping for little pink things! It was so much fun and I still just can't believe it.

Five Years Old!

Yesterday was Superstar's birthday. I was fortunately feeling well enough so Daddy got off work early and we took the birthday boy to Disneyland. He had so much fun. I gift shopped a lot since I can't go on a lot of rides. They went on Pirates and Buzz and Space Mountain and Autopia and Star Tours. And we ate Chicken Fusilli which is always yummy! Uncle Jim met us and got us a discount on a Buzz toy for Superstar's present and then we went home! Luke and Diva came over and helped us celebrate with french fries and doughnut cake! I know, but it's only once a year a kid has a birthday. Superstar was pooped and put himself to bed. I loved being able to give him a really fun day!

Grandma & Gingerbread

So last Friday my mom came to visit. We had the best time! Superstar warmed up to her pretty quickly and they played and read stories, but best of all she made me gingerbread! It's one of my favorite recipes from when I grew up that she made. I know you're probably thinking cookies or something but it's gingerbread cake and oh so yummy and moist and delicious! I made her double the recipe so we'd have lots! Thanks Mom!

Good Times

So even though it feels like I skipped Christmas this year, there were still some great highlights. We never got around to putting up the tree, since I was too sick and David didn't care. Superstar still got the experience with decorating Grandma's tree and Luke and Diva's tree. I still managed to fill Daddy's stocking with the help of this wonderful candy website that sells all sorts of goodies! It was fun. I bet there was 20 different kinds of candy in there.

Luke and Diva came over on Christmas morning and gave us a beautiful photo of the Newport Beach Temple that Luke photographed and framed for us. I had managed to finish the Star Wars doo-rag Luke wanted. Everyone was so nice and gave us such nice gifts, even though I was not able to finish everyone's traditional calendars I always make. I'm hoping to soon, though!

It's hard to pinpoint Superstar's favorite present but he's having a lot of fun with his Leapster. Thanks Grandma!

Ear Infection

Poor Superstar! Sunday he woke up all sick and with this walrus cough. When Daddy got home from church we took him to the Urgicare since he was complaining about his ear hurting. Sure enough, his poor little ear was sick. Everybody at the center thought he looked so pitiful. Poor little guy, his nose got all red and he got a scab from wiping it so much. He slept with me for a couple of nights and Daddy was good enough to take the couch. We need a bigger bed!!!

Pregnant!

So, two months later ... sorry, I've been so sick!!!! Everybody knows already, but my friend says we have to announce it, sooooooo I'm pregnant! I'm due supposedly in July, but no one really knows exactly since I couldn't give them accurate dates. That's okay, and here comes my soapbox, there's really no way to know when you get pregnant or when the baby will be born. It's all just roundabout guessing, so we'll just say July. I'm super excited because poor Superstar is born 2 weeks after Christmas and gets this big deluge of presents and excitement once a year and then nothin'! Plus we're always trying to plan his party around the weather, totally unpredictable. Summer birthdays are so much more fun! Water parties, the beach, ice cream, popsicles! So much fun! Now everybody please pray I can just hold on to this baby because if I don't I don't know that I'll have the courage to try again. The last couple of months have been so miserable, and I've been so bored and lonely. Superstar and Daddy have been beyond fabulous. Superstar just plays and comes in to hug me. He can even make his own PB sandwiches, BONUS! Daddy has taken over the whole house and is always willing to pop out for food, (even twice one night) to get me whatever my tummy thinks it can handle. He has me all set up in bed with the laptop and phones and a TV courtesy of my MIL and FIL, thanks! He even found me these acupressure wristbands which helped for a couple of days and then weren't so effective. Oh well, they came conveniently in time so I could at least go to church for Christmas and to the family celebrations. I guess God really does have the best timing, because I would have died, ok that's a little dramatic, but it would have been even more miserable to try to take care of Superstar when he was younger and not so self-sufficient. I learned and continue to learn so many lessons from the miscarriage. Sometimes I wonder what lessons I'm supposed to be learning from this pregnancy sickness. Why am I so sick when other people cruise through pregnancy. I promised God I would appreciate my life more if he would make me well. I know you're not supposed to bargain with God, but I'm desperate! Anyway, sorry so long, but I've had a lot of time to think, and I've missed being a part of the world.
