Jeremy's Trumpet Debut

So last night Daddy got out his trumpet and Jeremy wanted to play it. I was lying in bed and all of a sudden I hear the trumpet really loud. It didn't sound good like when Daddy played it, but it was solid. I asked Daddy if that was Jeremy and he said yes. Daddy says that Jeremy did really well for his first time. He didn't puff out his cheeks and he got the technique right away. You have to kind of spit in the trumpet, not just blow. It's hard for me! So here he is. It's kind of funny. It would be fun for Jeremy to grow up and be musical like David and I.

Cherish!

Last night we stayed home and invited our friend Jon for dinner. Well I got the best surprise ever! My sister Cherish from Utah called and said she was in town for 1 day and asked to come over. I was so excited to see her! I miss my sister friends in Utah. So she came and talked to my belly and the baby actually kicked a lot for her, which is rare. She won't kick much for Daddy. Everytime he puts his hands on my belly, she stops moving. I tell him he has a calming effect on her and he's welcome to take care of her when she's screaming. Anyway, it was so much fun to see her and I'm so happy she took the time to come see me!

Home School

So last week we finally started our home school. I had been wanting to but I just felt so overwhelmed by the sickness of my pregnant body that I had decided to just put it off until after the baby came and start in the fall when he would be Kindergarten age. Thanks to my friend and supporter Jon who kept asking me when we were going to start, I finally conquered my fear and organized my thoughts and materials and started! Jeremy loves it! I thought maybe I'd have to talk him into doing it and try to keep his attention, but he's glued and excited for everything we do. We start out with our Motto, which is Kindness Begins With Me. Then we sing the Primary song that goes along with it and have a prayer. Then he's got 6 things to do in any order he chooses. I have the schedule for him to look at and I tried to put it in language that would excite him and I used pictures to show him what each word meant. He has Letters, Numbers, Outside, Reading, Helping, and Drawing. He loves every one of his subjects! It's great to see what we need to do again the next day and what things he gets right away. For Numbers we played Go Fish with his Diego cards and he learned so much. Grouping things, give and take, addition, counting groups; it was really cool to see him develop lots of different skills in one exercise. Last week the LDS homeschool group for Orange County was having spring break, but I'm excited to go with them this week. They meet every Wednesday for twice a month field trips and park days. Anyway, fun, fun!

Last Week

Well, I succeeded last week in keeping busy while David was gone on travel. We had Jeremy's cousins over for dinner and baseball in the backyard, we went to the park, and my mom came to visit us. It really helped to curb my loneliness to have people around and things to do. Let's hope I do that well this week. David's off again, this time to San Diego. Of course being busy centers around how I'm feeling, so I did all right most of the week, then I kind of crashed a couple of days at the end. David had gotten tickets from his mom for Christmas to go see Phantom of the Opera at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, but when it came down to Saturday night, she had to take him because I was too sick to go. That was kind of a bummer. I saw it 16 or 17 years ago when it was in L.A. and it was so good. David and I both love the music. So I was happy for him that he finally got to go.

So the majority was barely made by the 2%ers. I do love 2% but I've weaned us down to the 1% for health reasons. I can't imagine going to the nonfat, but hey I've made it down before, who knows what I can do! Milk, it does a body good.

Name My New Red Dress

For my birthday I was blessed with several new stretchy dresses that I can wear during and after I'm pregnant. Well it turns out my favorite is the one from my sister and her family. My sister told me when she bought it that it was so comfortable she had to get one for herself. I admit, I doubted her. Everyone's always giving me their opinion on what I should do to feel better and what worked for them and nothing ever feels good for me. Well this dress is so amazing. So for those of you who see me on a regular basis, you'll probably see me in my new red dress almost every day! Now here's where you come in - I need a name for my dress. On my mission I wore this yellow dress for a week or 2 straight and my companion called it Miss Chiquita. So of course, a dress of this significance needs a name, and since all the blood has left my brain and is rushing to my belly, tell me what you think I should call this red wonder of a dress. Thanks!

Busy Fun

So it has been really warm and nice outside again and we've been enjoying it. On Friday we went to the park with the mom group. On Saturday Daddy helped Jon with some lights while I played piano for a baptism and then we all went to the dog beach with Baldo to fly Jon's new dragon kite. Jeremy loves to fly kites and the outside felt so nice, so it was fun. The kite crashed into the rocks and David had to go get it and Jeremy told me that Daddy had saved the dragon from the rocks. His Hero! Since we already did the Easter Egg Hunt combo birthday party we didn't really do anything for Easter this weekend, no dinner or anything. On Sunday morning, a couple of hours before church I remembered I was supposed to make the cake for the Young Women's March birthday celebration. Luckily I had a cake mix and the ingredients to whip up some frosting. Jeremy helped me and when it came out of the oven, he told me we made a beautiful cake! He also helped eat it this morning when I was still in bed. He is really independent. After all, why ask Mom, when you can just help yourself! When I saw his frosted face, I got out of bed and made him real breakfast. Today Daddy left for a trip to Lemoore for the week. Next week he travels too so I'm trying to have something to do everyday so I don't go crazy without him here. I love my Jeremy, but I need someone else to talk to everyday. We went to our friend's baseball game tonight for a while and then Jeremy got sad because he was tired of watching and wanted to play. So we went to his cousin's house and he got his fill of balls and scooters and fun. He fell asleep faster than I could get this blog typed! Awesome!

Temple Trip

Last night we took the Young Women to the Newport Beach temple. It was so great. For 2 of them it was their first time and it was so much fun to be with them! I felt yucky but I had committed to driving them there since it's not very far. We went to Carl's Jr. after and had dinner and I felt better. Probably my tummy was yelling for food! Aren't our Young Women adorable? I just love them!
